Jakarta – Indonesian Foreign Minister (Minister of Foreign Affairs) Sugiono said he had coordinated to handle 160 Indonesian citizens in Amman, Jordan who requested evacuation assistance. ‘We have asked for coordination with the embassy, yes, with the embassy in Amman,’ Sugiono said briefly after the Demokrat Party Iftar event in the Senayan area, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. The 160 Indonesian citizens asked for evacuation assistance from the Indonesian Embassy in Amman. They are part of Renata Tours’ spiritual pilgrimage tour. In a post on their official channel, a Renata Tours tour leader said that the group was in Amman, Jordan. They said they were confused about how to return to Indonesia amid the conflict between Iran and the United States and Israel. The flights that were supposed to bring them home to Indonesia had been cancelled. The group also tried to contact the Indonesian Embassy in Amman to obtain evacuation assistance. ‘Respectfully, we represent about 200 people trapped in Amman, requesting guidance and assistance from the Indonesian Embassy in Amman regarding our return from Jordan to Indonesia,’ reads the statement in the post. ‘We greatly hope for further assistance, especially evacuation and repatriation for us Indonesian citizens. Thank you for your attention and support,’ it continued. ‘168 of us are still in Amman,’ he told Kompas.com on Wednesday (4 March 2026). Responding to this, Nur Ibrahim, Protocol and Consular Affairs Official at the Indonesian Embassy in Amman, confirmed there had been a request for assistance from the Renata Tours group. Ibrahim said they had contacted the Indonesian Embassy in Amman on Monday (2 March 2026) afternoon local time. ‘They said they were on their way back from Petra to Amman and would fly with Etihad (Amman–Jakarta route) on 4 March 2026,’ he told Kompas.com on Wednesday, 4 March 2026. ‘In light of the situation with many flights being cancelled, they conveyed their concerns to the Indonesian Embassy about their return,’ he added. Ibrahim confirmed that the group was finding it difficult to obtain replacement flights. The embassy promptly responded to the group and proposed alternative flight options that could be taken.
