Indonesia's First National Chinese New Year Festival Held at Banteng Field Until 3 March
JAKARTA — The National Chinese New Year Festival 2577 officially opens at Banteng Field from 22 February to 3 March 2026.
Carrying the theme “Lunar New Year Harmony Nusantara”, this event is described as Indonesia’s first national Chinese New Year festival centred in an open public space, coinciding with the month of Ramadan.
The celebration is the culmination of Chinese New Year activities that have been held since 13 February 2026 across various cities in Indonesia.
In Jakarta, Banteng Field has been transformed into a cultural festival area, featuring bazaars of hundreds of local brands, dining centres for breaking the fast, and shopping spaces for pre-Eid purchases.
The festival is open to the public free of charge and runs daily from 15:00 to 22:00 WIB (Western Indonesian Time).
The festival is described not merely as a celebration of Chinese culture, but also as a stage for creative economic collaboration open to all segments of society.
In addition to the Lantern Festival and Lunar New Year Parade Nusantara, visitors can enjoy an Open-Air Museum of Chinese Cultural Acculturation, Food Festival, Arts & Creative markets, free health screening services, and film installations and arts performances.
The organisers announced that President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to attend alongside members of the Red and White Cabinet as a demonstration of support for the cultural celebration that strengthens national unity.
Mass lion dance and dragon dance performances, musical shows, traditional dances, and performances by national artists will be the highlights on the final evening.
Officials stated that Indonesia wishes to affirm its position as an active host on the global stage.
