Indonesia's Economy Grows 5.61%, Danantara Boss Responds Positively
Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM as well as Head of BPI Danantara, Rosan Roeslani, has responded positively to Indonesia’s economic growth achievement of 5.61% in the first quarter of 2026.
He assessed that the figure reflects the national economy’s continued strength, particularly from the investment side.
“Yes, yes, Alhamdulillah, the economic growth is 5.61%,” said Rosan when met at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Jakarta, on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
According to him, this growth indicates that Indonesia’s economy is performing well and is on a positive trend.
“Once again, this shows that our growth, our economy, is running very well, very positive, and from my portion, of course, in terms of investment, it contributes 32% of the total growth of 5.61%, or 1.8%,” he said.
Rosan emphasised that the contribution of investment to economic growth this time has increased compared to previous trends.
“So that’s where, usually, investment contributes around 28%-29%. Alhamdulillah, this is 32%, so the economic growth in the first quarter is Alhamdulillah achieving very, very good results,” he stated.
He even noted that investment realisation has exceeded the targets set by the government.
“We see from… especially if I’m talking about investment, which has reached above target,” said Rosan.
Previously, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded Indonesia’s economic growth in the first quarter of 2026 at 5.61% year-on-year (yoy). This growth rate is higher than the 5.39% in the fourth quarter of 2025 and the same period in the previous year, or the first quarter of 2025, at 4.87% yoy.
“Indonesia’s economic growth is 5.61% in the first quarter of 2026,” said BPS Chief Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti during a press conference at the BPS Head Office, Jakarta, on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
