The rapid growth of Indonesia’s digital economy is compelling higher education institutions to adapt in order to produce graduates who excel not only academically but are also ready to enter the workforce. Universitas Nusa Mandiri (UNM), as a Digital Business Campus, addresses this challenge through industry-based curriculum innovations.

According to the e-Conomy SEA report by Google, Temasek, and Bain & Company, Indonesia’s digital economy is estimated to reach around 90 billion USD in 2024 and increase to nearly 100 billion USD in 2025. Even long-term projections indicate that this figure could surpass 200-360 billion USD by 2030. These numbers position Indonesia as the largest digital market in Southeast Asia.

In line with this, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics states that Indonesia requires approximately 600,000 digital talents per year to support the national digital transformation.

Addressing this need, UNM, as a Digital Business Campus, through its Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), strengthens the Management and Digital Business Study Programme, which is oriented towards students’ career readiness.

One of the flagship programmes introduced is the Internship Experience Programme (IEP) 3+1, a learning scheme comprising three years at university and one year of direct work experience in industry. This programme is designed to bridge the gap between the academic world and the needs of the workforce.

Dean of FEB UNM, Ida Zuniarti, emphasised that this programme is a strategic step in preparing adaptive graduates.

“Through IEP 3+1, students not only gain theoretical knowledge but also practical experience that shapes work readiness, discipline, and adaptability in a professional environment,” she stated in a press release received on Tuesday (14/4/2026).

The curriculum for the Management and Digital Business Study Programme is also designed to be adaptive, integrating management science and technology. Students are equipped with competencies such as digital marketing, e-commerce management, data analysis, and technology-based business development.

With this foundation, she asserted, graduates have broad career opportunities as digital marketing specialists, e-commerce managers, business analysts, and technopreneurs. Moreover, the one-year internship experience also opens up direct recruitment opportunities by partner companies.

“In addition to strengthening the curriculum, FEB UNM is also expanding collaborations with industry to ensure alignment between graduate competencies and market needs,” she said.

Through these various innovations, UNM as a Digital Business Campus reaffirms its commitment to producing outstanding, adaptive young generations ready to compete amid the rapid growth of Indonesia’s digital economy.
