Indonesia's Dede Suhendar advances in Future-3
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian tennis player Dede Suhendar Dinata
cruised to the men's singles second round of the Extra Joss men's
Future-3 on Tuesday after outclassing fellow countryman Andrian
Raturandang 6-2, 6-2 in a second-day first round match at the
Kemayoran Tennis Center, Central Jakarta.
Indonesian young hopeful Febi Widhiyanto bowed out to Marcel
Du Coudray of Mauritius 4-6, 4-6. Junior Eko Kurniawan also lost
to Japanese Akira Matsushita 0-6, 2-6.
On Wednesday Dede will meet second seed Donavan September of
South Africa, who defeated qualifier Sonchat Ratiwatana of
Thailand 6-1, 6-3.
Du Coudray will play Willem Petr Meyer of South Africa, who
surprisingly overcame teammate and no. 5 seed Rik De Voest 7-6
(7-4), 7-5. Austrian Luben Pampoulov comprehensively beat
Japanese Ryuso Tsujino 6-0, 6-4.
Seventh seeded Robert Kendrick of the United States beat Vinod
Sridhar of India 6-2, 6-2 and will face Japanese Tetsuya Chaen.
Chaen went into the second round after a 6-1, 6-2 victory over
Yasufumi Yamamoto of Japan.
In the men's doubles event, Indonesia's top pair of Bonit
Wiryawan and Sulistyo Wibowo proved too powerful for Alan Mackin
of Great Britain and Pampoulov.
Bonit and Sulistyo won 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) and will play Leigh
Holland of Australia and Per Thorwadtsson of Sweden in the second
round on Wednesday. Holland and Thorwadtsson beat third seeds
Tasuku Iwami and Tsujino of Japan 6-3, 6-4 on Tuesday.
Eko, who was paired with Edy Kusdaryanto, surprisingly beat
the Japanese pair of Chaen and Matsushita 4-6, 6-4, 7-5. Eko and
Edy will meet No.4 seeds Hendri Susilo Pramono and Febi, who
barely sweated beating Edo Bawono and Surya Wijaya 6-3, 6-1.
Andrian and Suwandi outplayed teammates Yusmawan Fahmi and
Ariawan Poerboadinoto 6-3, 6-4. They will meet second seeds De
Voest and Johan Du Randt of South Africa, who beat Ekkarin
Pisuth-Arnont and Danai Udomchoke of Thailand 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 6-
4.
Top seed Mustaf Ghouse of India and Le Minh of the United
States beat Du Coudray and Meyer 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) to challenge
South Korean pair of Lee Seung-hun and Oh Seung-hoon, who beat
Nesa Artha and Ferdi Fauzi of Indonesia 6-3, 6-4. (ivy)
