Indonesia’s technology-based financial services sector continues to exhibit dynamism alongside the rising digital adoption by the public. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) has recorded several indicators reflecting activity and growth in the financial technology innovation sector, including digital financial assets and cryptocurrencies.

The Executive Head of Supervision for Financial Sector Technology Innovation, Digital Financial Assets, and Crypto Assets at OJK, Adi Budiarso, stated that the transaction value of crypto assets in March 2026 was recorded at Rp22.24 trillion. Meanwhile, the number of consumer accounts reached 21.37 million, marking a 1.43 per cent monthly growth.

“Amid the fluctuations in transaction values, consumer confidence in the digital assets ecosystem, including crypto assets in Indonesia, remains well-maintained,” Adi said during the online RDKB press conference on Tuesday, 5 May 2026.

Additionally, the transaction value of digital financial asset derivatives for the same period was recorded at Rp5.80 trillion. These data indicate ongoing activity amidst market movements.

From the perspective of financial sector technology innovation (ITSK), OJK has received 323 consultation requests from prospective sandbox participants since the issuance of POJK No. 3 of 2024 up to April 2026. Currently, there are five sandbox participants undergoing trials, consisting of four providers with digital financial assets and crypto assets business models, as well as one asset supporter.

“Since the issuance of POJK 3 of 2024 on ITSK implementation, from April or up to April 2026, OJK has received 323 consultation requests from prospective sandbox participants,” Adi said.

Previously, there were four sandbox participants with gold tokenisation, securities tokenisation, and property ownership benefit tokenisation business models that have been declared to have passed the trials. Additionally, one participant with a digital identity business model was declared unsuccessful.

In the ITSK sector, the number of registered providers consists of eight alternative credit providers and 17 financial services aggregation providers. All have established around 1,300 partnerships with financial services institutions across various sectors.

During March 2026, the transaction value completed by ITSK providers and approved by partners was recorded at Rp2.11 trillion, with the number of users reaching 17.17 million people across Indonesia. Meanwhile, the number of credit score data requests by alternative credit providers reached 25.91 million hits.
