Indonesian works in design and creativity are striding onto the global stage at Salone del Mobile Milano 2026 in Milan, Italy. In this prestigious exhibition, a variety of Indonesia’s flagship creations are showcased through the “House of Indonesia” installation at the IDD Pavilion.

The “House of Indonesia” installation is a collaborative booth concept that integrates designers, manufacturers, and creative communities into a single ecosystem. This initiative, spearheaded by IDD PIK 2, features works curated by Alvin Tjitrowirjo.

The exhibited works adopt a contemporary approach while remaining rooted in local identity. The interior layout is impeccably designed, presenting modern and classy aesthetics thanks to the expertise of Domisilium Studio founder, Santi Alaysius.

“This participation is a golden opportunity to introduce our distinctive designs. Through the IDD Pavilion, we demonstrate that Indonesia has an ecosystem capable of conceptual thinking, strong design, and realising it with global quality,” said Alvin.

During the event, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Italy, Prof. Dr. Junimart Girsang, visited the IDD Pavilion as a show of support for the developing creative industry ecosystem in the homeland. The visit was accompanied by officials from the Indonesian Embassy in Rome and ITPC Milan, and welcomed by CEO of Indonesia Design District (IDD), Ipeng Widjojo.

Junimart also visited the Salone Satellite area, which serves as a platform for young designers from various countries. On this stage, Indonesian talents such as Studio Banda, Zulyo Kumara, and Cynthia Margaret performed on par with global creators.

Junimart appreciated the enthusiasm and dedication of the young Indonesian designers participating in this world-class event. According to him, their presence is not merely a competition, but also a representation of national pride at the international level.

“We greatly appreciate the passion and dedication shown by the Indonesia Design District. Initiatives like this are very important to encourage Indonesian design to become increasingly known and celebrated on the international stage,” stated Junimart Girsang at the end of his visit.

Indonesia’s participation in this exhibition is the result of cross-sector collaboration. Several parties, such as the Ministry of Creative Economy, Ministry of Trade, Indonesia Design Development Centre (IDDC), ITPC Milan, and the Indonesian Embassy in Rome, have synergised to ensure Indonesia’s presence in Milan from 21 to 26 April 2026.
