The Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industries/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) completed its central role in Indonesia’s participation at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland, on 23 January 2026. Since 19 January 2026, the Ministry had led Indonesia’s investment diplomacy through the organisation of the Indonesia Pavilion.

Working in collaboration with Danantara Indonesia and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), the Indonesia Pavilion produced a range of measurable achievements aimed at boosting interest and promoting investment opportunities and potential in Indonesia. A series of activities addressed national priority issues, from green energy and industrial downstream processing to human resource development, food security, finance, the digital economy, and the health sector.

“We showcased several things at the Indonesia Pavilion, from government, the business community, KADIN and others. We presented Indonesia’s future plans, how we can become more open in terms of both policy and regulation. We also showcased various priority opportunities, particularly in renewable energy, human resources, finance and other areas,” explained Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries/Head of BKPM, Rosan P. Roeslani.

Indonesia’s diplomacy at WEF Davos 2026 was further strengthened by the presence of President Prabowo Subianto, who delivered a special address entitled “Indonesia’s Story: Stability and Growth” at the main WEF forum, followed by a dialogue with WEF President and CEO Borge Brende.

“We accompanied the President at the main WEF forum, which presented a very comprehensive picture of what we have accomplished, as well as the values we will practise going forward. The President conveyed that business stability is our strength that must always be maintained, and this has a positive impact on the economy, investment, politics and other areas,” Rosan elaborated.

The President also visited the Indonesia Pavilion, further affirming the Pavilion’s role as the primary platform for Indonesia’s promotion and strategic dialogue at the global forum.

Secretary of the Ministry/Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Investment and Downstream Industries/BKPM, Rudy Salahuddin, added that Indonesia’s participation at WEF Davos 2026 produced concrete achievements. “During WEF 2026, there were a total of nine seminars/panel discussions at the Indonesia Pavilion; four government-to-government (G-to-G) meetings; nine government-to-business (G-to-B) meetings with global business players, as well as dozens of business-to-business (B-to-B) meetings,” he explained.

The outcomes of the one-on-one meetings included the signing of a framework agreement with the Government of Jordan, as well as strategic meetings with the Swiss and Bahraini governments. In addition, intensive discussions were held with a number of global companies such as Apple, Sumitomo, Bosaq, ACWA, and Embraer, affirming their interest in and commitment to quality investment opportunities in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, Deputy for Investment Promotion, Nurul Ichwan, stressed that Indonesia’s involvement was crucial to ensure the country remained on the radar of global decision-makers. Each January, the WEF Annual Meeting in Davos serves as a strategic space where heads of state, global business leaders, and policy-makers gather to absorb various inputs from governments, economic actors, and the international community before conducting analysis and determining future investment directions and alternatives.

“Indonesia’s presence at WEF is part of a national orchestration to present the complete face of Indonesia, from its policies and stability to its investment opportunities. What the President, Ministers, and the entire Indonesian delegation conveyed at this forum is expected to be disseminated across the networks and corporate groups globally, so that Indonesia is viewed as a strategic alternative investment destination,” he said.

As part of Indonesia’s economic diplomacy at WEF Davos 2026, the country once again hosted Indonesia Night as a warm and strategic diplomatic space. The event was attended by more than 1,000 guests, including the Interim Co-Chair of the World Economic Forum, leaders of global companies, government officials, and members of the WEF community, serving as an affirmation of Indonesia’s position as a credible, open, and long-term-oriented investment partner.

Closing Indonesia’s participation at the WEF Annual Meeting 2026, Minister of Investment and Downstream Industries/Head of BKPM, Rosan P. Roeslani, stated that the global forum delivered three key messages for Indonesia’s future policy direction and investment strategy.

“The WEF Annual Meeting 2026 conveyed three important messages: that global competition is intensifying; technology and energy will become the two main foundations of future investment; and the importance of downstream industrialisation supported by quality and sustainable investment. Indonesia is in a strategic position to respond to these dynamics, with maintained economic and political stability, competitive resources, and a strong government commitment to creating a conducive investment climate. Going forward, our focus is to ensure that every opportunity built at global forums such as WEF can be followed up concretely through partnerships, investment realisation, and tangible contributions to inclusive and sustainable national economic growth,” he concluded.
