Indonesian students showcase Nusantara culture at Global Village Tunisia
Indonesian students showcased the Saman dance, Nusantara cuisine, and batik at Global Village organised by AIESEC in Tunisia on 6 March 2026 to strengthen cultural exchange between the peoples of the two countries. The Global Village event by AIESEC Tunisia–Medina was attended by students from various countries who introduced their cultural identities through cross-cultural exhibitions. According to ANTARA’s report in Jakarta on Sunday, Indonesian students displayed the richness of their culture through Aceh’s Saman dance, Nusantara culinary displays, and various cultural accessories exhibited at the booth. The Indonesia booth attracted visitors with decorations featuring Nusantara ornaments, and students wearing traditional attire displayed batik fabrics as part of promoting Indonesian culture. The Saman performance was met with enthusiastic applause from visitors crowded around the event area due to its coordinated and rhythmic movements. The event was also attended by Tunisian content creators, including Ali Batta, Ahmed Mekni, and Monath Jihed, who helped enliven the activities. The Indonesian student representative, Presinta Kusuma, said the event provided an opportunity to introduce Indonesia’s cultural diversity to international students. ‘Indonesia is a country rich in culture, beautiful landscapes, and diverse ethnicities and traditions. This is an opportunity not to miss to introduce that diversity,’ she said. The representative of the Indonesian Students Association in Tunisia, Yahya Ayyasy Assayyaf, stated that the Indonesian diaspora will continue to support activities that promote Nusantara culture internationally. He added that cross-cultural activities such as Global Village can strengthen cultural diplomacy and tighten ties between the Indonesian and Tunisian communities through the involvement of younger generations.
