Indonesian Police Uncover Drug Trafficking in Dumai, Seize 18 kg of Meth and 30,000 Ecstasy Pills
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Directorate of Narcotics Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency has uncovered a case of illicit narcotics distribution involving an international network in Dumai City, Riau. In this operation, police seized methamphetamine weighing more than 18 kilograms, 30,000 ecstasy pills, and hundreds of etomidate vials. The Director of Narcotics Crimes at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, stated that the case’s revelation stemmed from developing public information regarding activities of the Malaysia-Indonesia network. “The team successfully apprehended three suspects along with narcotic evidence that is strongly suspected to be part of a cross-border illicit narcotics distribution network,” said Eko in his statement on Thursday (30/4/2026). The three are known to have roles as couriers and field controllers. The first arrest was made against Adit on Sunday (26/4/2026) at around 23:17 WIB, on Jalan Arifin Ahmad, Dumai. From Adit, police found approximately 6 grams of methamphetamine and a smoking device. Police then located another vehicle abandoned on Jalan Duri-Dumai. Inside the car, officers discovered the main evidence consisting of 17 packets of methamphetamine with a gross weight of 18,358 grams, 30,000 ecstasy pills with the “LV” logo, and 500 etomidate vials. The following day, on Monday (27/4/2026), police arrested the other two suspects, Riski and Rachmad, at a hotel in Dumai.
