The Indonesian National Police (Polri) will increase patrols in several areas considered vulnerable to criminal activity during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period. Polri stated that this measure aims to guarantee public security.

“Polri will increase patrols in high-crime areas,” said Irjen Johnny Eddizon Isir, head of Polri’s Public Relations Division, whilst leading a preparedness briefing for the Operation Ketupat 2026 task force at Polri headquarters in South Jakarta on Wednesday, 11 March 2026.

Isir noted that empty homes left vacant by returning migrants will receive particular attention during patrols. He also urged residents travelling home to utilise vehicle deposit facilities at police offices.

“Empty houses must not become vulnerable targets. We don’t want residents returning from their holiday only to find unwanted things have occurred. There are various facilities at our posts, both at district and municipal police levels, that members of the public can utilise if they wish to deposit their vehicles during their journey home,” he said.

Isir requested that his officers step up public outreach regarding home security measures before residents depart for their hometowns. One measure includes checking the safety of electrical installations to prevent fires.

“This activity has religious, social, and public order dimensions. The hope is that the situation remains stable so people can travel home safely,” Isir said.

Isir encouraged the public to use the 110 call centre service if they encounter potential security threats. He stressed that the service is available 24 hours a day and is free of charge.

“So if residents need any service, particularly related to their security and safety, please make use of the 110 hotline,” he said.

Operation Ketupat 2026 is scheduled to run for two weeks, from 13 to 25 March 2026. The 2026 migration period carries the tagline “Safe Journey, Happy Family.”
