The Indonesian National Police (Polri) Public Affairs Division has established a Public Affairs Task Force for Operation Ketupat 2025. The task force comprises 44 personnel.

The briefing was led by the Head of Polri’s Public Affairs Division, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, on Wednesday, 11 March 2025. He stated that the Public Affairs Task Force was formed to disseminate information during the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2026.

“This is a routine calendar activity for law and order that we conduct every year. We hope that from year to year there is an improvement in quality, including in conveying information to the public,” said Isir at Polri Headquarters in South Jakarta.

According to him, the successful implementation of the operation represents an opportunity to strengthen public trust in Polri. He stated that public affairs plays a role in managing information and public communication.

He expressed hope that information regarding the exodus flow, public services, and security could be conveyed quickly and accurately to the public.

“The hope of the Police Chief (General Listyo Sigit Prabowo) is that this humanitarian operation momentum can also strengthen public trust in the Polri institution,” said Isir.

Public Affairs Task Force personnel will be assigned to the central command post and several sub-task forces such as multimedia, information management and documentation, and public information. Additionally, small complete unit teams will be deployed to several priority points along the exodus routes.

Several areas that became the focus of monitoring include the Merak ferry crossing in the jurisdiction of the Banten Police, exodus routes in the West Java Police jurisdiction, the Kalikangkung toll gate in the Central Java Police jurisdiction, and the Ketapang-Gilimanuk ferry crossing route in the East Java Police jurisdiction.

Isir stated that collaboration between the central-level Public Affairs Task Force with provincial and district police levels is important. He stated that the public must receive information in an integrated and rapid manner.

“Of course, collaboration is needed with colleagues from the Public Affairs Task Force within the regional operational structure, both at the provincial police level and the district police level. Many things must then be captured by colleagues,” explained Isir.

In addition to conveying traffic and exodus route information, the Public Affairs Task Force is also tasked with promoting the use of the 110 hotline. He also requested the task force conduct security awareness campaigns for homes being left during the exodus.

“Please those at the command post monitor if there are congestion points or traffic jams, then direct vehicles to exit and re-enter at which toll gate, hopefully this information can be continuously monitored by our citizens who are moving,” said Isir.

“We have technology, whether it is WhatsApp blast, SMS blast, to convey simple information regarding traffic management to avoid congestion points or stuck locations. This can be informed to the public earlier so residents can anticipate,” he added.

He requested personnel to monitor weather developments released by the Indonesian Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) to be conveyed to the public. He urged Polri’s public affairs personnel to work faithfully and sincerely.

“Carry out this duty as an honour. Be proud of the call to duty and carry it out faithfully and sincerely,” said Isir.

Operation Ketupat 2026 will take place from 13 to 25 March 2026. The 2026 exodus carries the tagline “Safe Exodus, Happy Family”.
