Indonesian Police Confirm Continued Criminal Investigation into Former Bima City Police Chief's Drug Case
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia's National Police have confirmed they will continue investigating criminal narcotics allegations against former Bima City Police Chief AKBP Didik Putra Kuncoro, despite the officer having already been dishonourably discharged from the force.
"The Criminal Investigation Agency and the NTB Regional Police Narcotics Directorate have been taking simultaneous and coordinated steps. This action will certainly be continued," said National Police Public Information Bureau Chief Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko at the TNCC Building, National Police Headquarters, Jakarta, on Thursday.
However, he was unable to disclose the progress of the case as it remains ongoing.
Trunoyudo further stated that the police would take firm action against personnel who commit reprehensible acts, including drug abuse. He said the dishonourable discharge imposed on personnel who use narcotics serves as proof of the force's commitment to taking decisive measures.
Additionally, the police are implementing preventive measures, including conducting urine tests on police personnel.
"This is naturally in line with the Astacita programme of the President of the Republic of Indonesia. We know that narcotics cases constitute extraordinary crimes. Therefore, we are collectively committed to giving particular attention to this criminal offence," he said.
On Thursday, the Police Code of Ethics Commission tribunal handed down a dishonourable discharge against former Bima City Police Chief AKBP Didik Putra Kuncoro in connection with a narcotics case.
Trunoyudo revealed that during the ethics hearing, evidence was found of violations committed by Didik, namely soliciting and receiving money through the Bima City Police Narcotics Unit Chief, identified as AKP M (Malaungi), sourced from drug dealers operating in the Bima area.
"He committed narcotics abuse and engaged in deviant sexual misconduct," he said.
In addition to the administrative sanction of dishonourable discharge, Didik was also given an administrative penalty of placement in a special facility for seven days from 13 to 19 February 2026 at the Special Detention Room of the Professional and Security Division's Provost Bureau, a sentence which has already been served.
Furthermore, Didik received an ethical sanction, with his behaviour officially declared reprehensible.
"Regarding the ruling, the offender stated before the Chairman and Members of the Police Code of Ethics Commission that he accepted the verdict," Trunoyudo said.
In the drug abuse case involving Didik, the police are currently hunting a drug network dealer identified by the initial "E," who is suspected of being the supplier of illicit substances in this case. The National Police have committed to dismantling the narcotics network connected to the dealer known as "E."
