Indonesian Navy Urges PIMA to Advance the Maritime Sector
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL), through the Indonesian Fleet Command (Koarmada RI), is encouraging the Maritime Professionals Association (PIMA) to continue contributing to the advancement of Indonesia’s maritime sector.
“PIMA has become a home for professionals, entrepreneurs, and maritime activists who share a vision to advance Indonesia’s maritime sector,” said the Chief of Staff of Koarmada RI, Rear Admiral TNI Heri Triwibowo, in his speech at the PIMA’s second anniversary celebration at Fortune Star Restaurant, West Jakarta, on Tuesday.
Heri explained that PIMA is an organisation comprising maritime activists, entrepreneurs, academics, fishermen, and professional workers.
All these elements, Heri said, must collaborate to ensure that Indonesia’s marine wealth can be utilised effectively.
He stated that one form of collaboration that PIMA must undertake is to bridge the needs of entrepreneurs and professional workers with government policies.
This, according to him, must be done so that all maritime business efforts by industry players can have a positive impact on society and the state.
In addition, Heri assessed that PIMA must also play a role in ensuring that all of Indonesia’s marine wealth can be enjoyed by the public for a long time.
“PIMA must continue to be a catalyst for innovation in our seas. We must ensure that our ocean wealth is not only enjoyed today, but also becomes a beautiful legacy for our grandchildren,” Heri emphasised.
“Continue to collaborate to create a healthy maritime ecosystem,” he added.
At the same time, the General Chairman of the Indonesian Maritime Professionals Association (PIMA), Harnoto Darsono, said that they are grateful that PIMA has turned two years old today.
Over these two years, Harnoto said, PIMA has contributed to helping the government strengthen Indonesia’s maritime sector.
Some of the efforts undertaken include empowering marine resources equitably, assisting maritime communities such as fishermen, supporting government maritime programmes, and serving as a forum for collaboration among all maritime activists.
These roles, Harnoto continued, will continue to be carried out by PIMA to advance Indonesia’s maritime sector.
To implement this, he hopes that all internal PIMA parties as well as the government can continue to collaborate to ensure that Indonesia’s marine wealth can be utilised effectively.
“Let us weave this diversity into strength. Let us make the sea a unifier, not a divider, and let us work together to realise the aspiration of making Indonesia the world’s maritime axis,” he stated.
