The exercise aims to enhance troop operational readiness. PALU (ANTARA) – The 2026 Operation Trisila II Task Force of the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) is strengthening troop combat readiness to address various maritime threats through an amphibious landing exercise at Kampung Nelayan Beach in Palu City, Central Sulawesi. Deputy Task Force Commander Navy Colonel (P) Agung Nugroho Kusumaji said in Palu on Monday that the exercise is part of Operation Trisila II, which focuses on the Indonesian Archipelagic Sea Lane (ALKI) II, including the strategically important Makassar Strait area. “This second phase is being conducted in ALKI II, particularly the Makassar Strait area, which is strategically vital for national shipping and maritime security,” he said. He explained the operation aims to uphold national sovereignty, enforce laws, and maintain security in Indonesia’s maritime territories. He noted Palu is a key location for the operation due to its position in the Makassar Strait, a strategic corridor connecting northern and southern Indonesia. During the exercise, Operation Trisila II Task Force involved several TNI AL units, including the warship KRI Teluk Kupang-519, Panther HS-1310 helicopter, and a Marine Corps platoon. The activity received support from Palu Naval Base (Lanal Palu) as part of TNI AL’s Integrated Fleet Weapon System (SSAT) synergy. In addition to operational duties, the Navy is conducting community engagement activities with support from Palu Naval Base. “We aim to demonstrate the Navy’s presence among the community and ensure its benefits are directly felt,” he said. Palu Naval Base Commander Marine Corps Colonel M. Ali Wardhana stated that supporting the exercise is part of the Navy’s commitment to maintaining troop operational readiness against potential maritime threats. Lanal Palu is facilitating the exercise through security measures, field coordination, and providing base facilities for participating units. He added that the exercise also serves to hone troops’ technical and tactical skills while enhancing inter-unit interoperability. “The exercise is expected to boost troop operational readiness and unit capabilities in facing future challenges. Lanal Palu is committed to providing maximum support to ensure all activities proceed safely, orderly, and smoothly,” he said. He noted that beyond enhancing combat capabilities, the exercise aims to strengthen ties with coastal communities and foster maritime awareness and patriotism. He stressed that the 2026 Operation Trisila II is part of the Navy’s efforts to boost combat readiness and safeguard the maritime sovereignty of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
