Indonesian Navy Holds Combat Drill to Strengthen Indonesia's Air Defence
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Navy, through the Regional Navy Command XIII (Koarmada XIII), conducted a dedicated combat drill to strengthen Indonesia’s air defence. In a press release from Koarmada RI received in Jakarta on Saturday, it explained that the activity was carried out at the Koarmada XIII Headquarters in Tarakan City, North Kalimantan Province, on Wednesday, 4 May.
Panglima Komando Armada (Pangkoarmada) RI, Vice Admiral Denih Hendrata, when contacted in Jakarta on Saturday, said the sequence of exercises began with a troop readiness parade. After that, personnel conducted a simulation exercise to counter air attacks from the coast. He also deployed weapons on KRI ships to counter air attacks.
Denih stated the exercise is expected to train soldiers’ instincts to act quickly and correctly to deter air attacks. He also hoped the exercise could sharpen the soldiers’ ability to operate air defence weapon systems (alutsista).
‘Every soldier must possess combat instinct, rapid response, and high professionalism in every task,’ Denih said. Denih confirmed the exercise will continue to be conducted regularly to bolster Indonesia’s defence.
