Indonesian Navy Deploys Marine Troops to Patrol and Guard the Indonesia-Singapore Border
The Indonesian Navy has deployed marine troops to patrol the border area between Indonesia and Singapore, specifically on Nipa Island in Batam City, Riau Islands.
The patrol activities, aimed at safeguarding the country’s territorial boundaries, were carried out on Wednesday (25/2).
“This patrol is conducted there because Nipa Island is located on the world’s busiest international shipping route and directly borders Singapore,” said the Head of the Information Service of the Marine Corps of the Indonesian Navy, Colonel (Mar) Rana Karyana, when confirmed by ANTARA.
Rana explained that the patrol activities began with a morning parade and exercise to ensure the physical condition of the troops was fit.
After the exercise, Rana continued, personnel began patrolling the waters of Nipa Island and its surroundings. They monitored the development of the security situation and conducted surveillance of foreign warships passing through the area.
In addition, personnel also patrolled strategic points on land and along the coastline to ensure the area remained safe and under control.
Rana added that the personnel continued to carry out their duties to the best of their ability during the holy month of Ramadan.
Based on the results of the patrol, no suspicious activities that could threaten the country’s territory were found.
Rana assured that his personnel would continue to be deployed there to ensure the border area between Indonesia and Singapore remains safe.
