The Cheap Food Movement simultaneously launched by Polri across Indonesia has been officially implemented in Bali. The activity took place at the office of the State-Owned Logistics Company (Perum Bulog) Regional Office (Kanwil) Bali on Friday, 13 March 2026.

The Cheap Food Movement was attended by Bali Regional Police Deputy Chief (Wakapolda) Brigadier General Made Astawa and his staff, various officials from Perum Bulog Kanwil Bali, and several relevant stakeholders. The programme is part of efforts to assist communities in meeting basic needs ahead of major religious occasions.

The Director of Community Development (Dirbinmas) at Bali Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Suwandi Prihantoro, stated that the Cheap Food Movement is a continuation of a similar programme that has been running since 2025.

“For now, today is the launch, and going forward we will continue to monitor conditions in Bali and other places where communities need this food assistance,” said Suwandi.

Suwandi explained that the Cheap Food Movement aims to help communities meet their basic needs ahead of worship during Ramadan, whilst also facing celebrations such as Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr. Additionally, the programme is expected to ease the economic burden on communities, maintain price stability of essential goods in the Bali region, and support the government’s programme in controlling regional inflation. Through this activity, Polri also wants to enhance closeness with the community through social activities.

The Cheap Food Movement this year is being held simultaneously at ten location points throughout the Bali Regional Police jurisdiction. A total of 16 tonnes of essential goods are being distributed with an estimated 3,700 beneficiaries.

The commodities distributed in the activity include Food Supply and Price Stabilisation (SPHP) rice, premium Punokawan rice, Manis Kita sugar, MinyaKita cooking oil, shallots, garlic, large red chillies, red bird’s eye chillies, and chicken eggs.

Rice at the Cheap Food Movement is sold at 57,000 rupiah per sack or approximately 11,500 rupiah per kilogram, cheaper than market prices.

“Prices here are guaranteed to be far cheaper than market prices. To residents, there are still several days before the long holiday to meet these basic needs,” added Suwandi.

The Cheap Food Movement is expected to help communities obtain basic needs at more affordable prices ahead of the upcoming major religious observances.
