Indonesian Metal Workers' Federation Establishes Four Union Branches in Morosi Industrial Zone
The Federation of Indonesian Metal Workers' Unions (FSPMI) is increasingly making its presence felt in Morosi, Southeast Sulawesi. According to reports from the FSPMI Southeast Sulawesi Regional Board, four Work Unit Leadership bodies (PUK) have been established at several major companies in the area.
The four FSPMI work units that have been formed are:
- PUK SPEE–FSPMI at PT PCN: With 57 members, this unit plays an important role in advocating for workers' rights at PT PCN.
- PUK SPL–FSPMI at PT OSS: With 98 members, this unit actively monitors the implementation of occupational health and safety at PT OSS, a company that has previously experienced serious workplace accidents.
- PUK SPL–FSPMI at PT VDNI: With 63 members, this unit works to improve worker welfare at PT VDNI, a company that has also been in the spotlight over occupational safety concerns.
- PUK SPPK–FSPMI at PT TPM: With the largest membership of 472 workers, this unit represents a significant force in advocating for workers' rights at PT TPM.
FSPMI National Executive Board Vice President for Organisation, Nuryasin, S.H., expressed his hope that the federation's presence would bring positive change for workers' welfare.
"The presence of FSPMI in Morosi is expected to bring positive change for both workers and companies in the Morosi industrial zone, Southeast Sulawesi," Yasin said.
With the establishment of these work units, workers can enjoy greater protection of their rights whilst companies are encouraged to pay closer attention to workplace safety and worker welfare.
