Indonesian House of Representatives invites Surabaya residents to help drive the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG) through oversight and participation
Public participation is a crucial element to ensure the programme runs transparently, accountably, and delivers optimal benefits, said Indah Kurnia in a statement from Surabaya, East Java, on Wednesday. She urged the public to provide feedback or submit reports if they encounter any irregularities in programme implementation through representatives of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) or the Office of Nutrition Fulfilment Services (KPPG) in their respective areas. “The establishment of BGN is a strategic step in preparing a generation that is healthy, resilient, professional, and globally competitive,” she said. Regarding programme implementation, Indah stressed that, as a member of the DPR RI, she fulfils oversight functions over all programmes funded by the State Budget (APBN) and is not involved in kitchen management or the Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG). She appreciated the enthusiasm of participants who actively discussed with speakers from BGN. She hopes the socialisation provides a comprehensive understanding of MBG’s aims, beneficiary targets, and the MBG mechanism. “We hope this programme will have a tangible impact in shaping an Indonesia that is outstanding, healthy, and competitive, in line with the grand vision towards Indonesia Emas 2045,” she said.
