Jakarta — The Indonesia Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC) reported that Indonesian food and beverage products and items from the hotel, restaurant and catering (HORECA) sector successfully recorded potential transactions valued at USD1.41 million or equivalent to Rp23.79 billion at the SIRHA Budapest 2026 exhibition in Hungary.

ITPC Budapest Head Suci Mahanani stated that the achievement of potential transactions demonstrated that Indonesian products are highly sought after by exhibition visitors, particularly those from Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) region. This situation simultaneously demonstrated the strong competitiveness of Indonesian products in the CEE market.

“The CEE market region has very high interest in Indonesian products. The Indonesian pavilion managed to record impressive potential transactions despite challenging geopolitical situations in Ukraine and the Middle East,” Suci said in a statement in Jakarta on Friday.

Throughout the three-day exhibition, the Indonesian pavilion was visited by over 27,000 people from various countries, including Slovakia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Portugal and France.

Indonesia sent seven business practitioners, of which five were micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) resulting from a curation programme initiated by Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade, namely the UMKM Berani Inovasi, Siap Adaptasi Ekspor (UMKM BISA Ekspor) programme.

The products exhibited included processed food and beverages, snacks, herbal drinks, various spices and premium steeped tea drinks, cocoa, coffee, vanilla and derivative products, as well as premium plastic container products.

Hungary represents a strategic trade partner for Indonesia. Food and beverage products such as processed fruit, chocolate, seafood products, spices and coconut products are the primary commodities in demand.

This interest is predicted to continue growing with an average annual growth rate (Compound Annual Growth Rate/CAGR) of 6.47 per cent until 2028.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), total trade between Indonesia and Hungary in 2025 was recorded at USD303.7 million. Meanwhile, the value of non-oil and gas exports from Indonesia to Hungary in 2025 reached USD113.8 million, an increase of 10.65 per cent from the previous year which was USD102.8 million.
