Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) and the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Dubai reported that two micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have successfully realised their first export of healthy snack products to Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), worth $10,588 or approximately IDR 178.25 million.

In a statement in Jakarta on Thursday, this export achievement is the result of business matching and participation in international trade shows facilitated by the Ministry of Trade.

According to the Head of ITPC Dubai, Widy Haryono, this success proves that the promotional strategy for the UAE is on target. To attract more buyers and expand the export reach of MSMEs, the Ministry of Trade and ITPC Dubai continue to intensify business matching programs and facilitate MSMEs to participate in various strategic trade shows in the UAE.

“The approach we take is not only to bring together business actors and buyers, but also to ensure concrete follow-up to generate sustainable trade transactions and contracts,” said Widy.

He mentioned that the MSMEs that successfully exported to Dubai were CV Cahaya Sinar Terang from Yogyakarta, which secured transactions worth $5,888 or IDR 99.13 million, and Hundred Seed from Bali, with a transaction value of $4,700 or approximately IDR 79.12 million. The exported products include granola, crunchy cereal, and biscuits.

Widy emphasised the importance of exporters meeting quality standards, complying with international regulations, and adhering to packaging and labelling criteria in accordance with the requirements of the target market. Meeting these technical aspects is the key to penetrating the UAE market.

The Ministry of Trade and ITPC Dubai are committed to facilitating broad market access, not only for healthy processed food products, but also for various other potential products, especially from MSMEs.

“The demand for healthy processed food products continues to increase in the UAE market. We will continue to facilitate business actors in the processed food sector and other leading products to expand market penetration in the Middle East region,” said Widy.

In 2025, the total trade between Indonesia and the UAE reached $6.44 billion. Indonesian exports were recorded at $4.03 billion and Indonesian imports from the UAE were $2.41 billion. Indonesia had a surplus of $1.62 billion.

Several commodities contributed to this performance, including pearls, animal fats and oils, vehicles, machinery and electrical equipment, and iron and steel.

In 2024, the total trade between Indonesia and the UAE was $5.07 billion. Indonesian exports to the UAE reached $3.07 billion and Indonesian imports from the UAE reached $2.00 billion. Indonesia had a surplus of $1.06 billion against the UAE.
