Jakarta, VIVA – Investment and Downstreaming Minister/BKPM Head Rosan Roeslani has said that the hajj village specifically built to accommodate Indonesian pilgrims is located 400 metres from Masjidil Haram, the grand mosque in the city of Makkah, Saudi Arabia.

Rosan made the statement after accompanying President Prabowo Subianto in his meeting with Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah last week, as part of the President's state visit before heading to Brazil.

"He (Prince MBS) approved the President's request to establish the Indonesia Village, which is located not too far away, 400 metres from Masjidil Haram," Rosan said during a press briefing in Brussels, Belgium, as quoted on Monday, 14 July 2025.

The location of the Indonesian hajj village, or Indonesia Village, in Makkah is expected to provide easier access for pilgrims wishing to reach the Ka'bah, which is situated inside Masjidil Haram.

Beyond the hajj village, Rosan, who also serves as CEO of BPI Danantara Indonesia, signed a cooperation agreement with ACWA Power, a renewable energy company under Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund, PIF.

"I happened to sign an agreement between Danantara and ACWA, which is a company under PIF, the sovereign wealth fund, operating in the clean energy sector," Rosan said.

In a joint statement, President Prabowo and Prince Mohammed bin Salman agreed to enhance cooperation in providing the best services for Indonesian hajj pilgrims.

Beyond hajj matters, President Prabowo and Prince MBS also discussed strengthening cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, and energy. The two nations agreed to mutually support each other's targets in achieving Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and Indonesia's Golden Vision 2045.

President Prabowo and Prince MBS further agreed to enhance cooperation across 10 areas, encompassing digital economy and innovation; legal systems and law enforcement; labour and human resources; culture; tourism; sports and youth affairs; education and research; industry and mining; agriculture, fisheries and food security; and air connectivity between the two countries.
