Indonesian Embassy Sets Alert Level 3 in UAE as Situation Remains Dangerous but Controllable
JAKARTA — The Indonesian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Judha Nugraha, announced that the embassy has implemented Alert Level 3 status for Indonesian nationals currently in the region.
The alert was established following escalating security developments in the Middle East triggered by Israeli and American military operations against Iran.
“Since the incident on 28 February, when Iran launched an attack on the UAE, the Indonesian Embassy has issued advisories and subsequently implemented Alert Level 3 status,” said Judha on Monday, 9 March 2026. “We hope that Indonesians will increase their vigilance and take precautionary protective measures early on.”
The embassy is urging Indonesian nationals to immediately contact the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Indonesian Consulate General in Dubai in case of emergencies.
The embassy continues to take anticipatory measures in case of further escalation in the region.
“We must anticipate that the ground situation remains very fluid and highly dynamic. Missile and drone attacks continue to occur. Even shortly before we conducted this interview, explosions were still heard in Abu Dhabi,” Nugraha stated.
“Vigilance is therefore paramount, and people must follow the instructions issued by local authorities,” he added.
Nugraha also reiterated the importance of registration for Indonesian nationals residing in the UAE. According to the ambassador, accurate data is essential for the Indonesian mission to provide swift and appropriate responses, particularly in emergency situations.
Earlier, an incident occurred aboard the Musaffah 2 vessel as it prepared to conduct a towing operation in the Strait of Hormuz, waters between the UAE and Oman, on Friday, 6 March 2026. The incident resulted in three Indonesian crew members being reported missing, whilst one other crew member survived.
