Kuala Lumpur m The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur (KBRI KL) has repatriated 109 Indonesian migrant workers/Indonesian nationals (PMI/WNI) from several immigration detention depots (DTI) in Malaysia. In a statement issued in Kuala Lumpur on Friday, KBRI KL said the repatriation took place on Thursday (5 March) via air travel in three flight groups: one flight bound for Jakarta carrying 46 WNI, and two flights bound for Medan carrying 63 WNI. The programme targets Indonesians who fall into the vulnerable category and have spent long periods in detention. Among the 109 repatriates are four babies, two pregnant women, one WNI with mental health issues, and one with a physical disability. Upon arrival in Indonesia, the Indonesians were accommodated at various facilities provided by the Government of Indonesia before returning to their respective home regions. “This repatriation programme is a routine endeavour of the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, and this is the second time it has been implemented this year. Throughout 2026, KBRI Kuala Lumpur has facilitated the repatriation of a total of 176 WNI,” said Garda Arian, the Third Secretary of the Consular Protocol Function at KBRI KL.
