Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade Promotes Increased Serbian Tourism to Indonesia
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade continues to promote an increase in the number of Serbian tourists visiting Indonesia, as well as tourism business cooperation between the two countries, through the promotion of popular Indonesian tourism in the country. According to the Indonesian Ambassador to Serbia, Andreano Erwin, through participation in the 47th International Tourism Fair (ITF), which took place in Belgrade from 19 to 22 February 2026, the Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade also aims to promote Indonesia as a tourist destination more broadly to the people of Central and Southern Europe. In a written statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade, received in Jakarta on Wednesday, Ambassador Andreano said that the tourism exhibition “is a good opportunity to continue encouraging collaboration between the Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade and the private sector in supporting the Indonesian tourism sector”. Through collaboration with four travel agency companies, hundreds of tour packages to Indonesia were successfully sold during the exhibition, according to the Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade. The Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade also facilitated the realisation of business cooperation commitments between travel agencies in Serbia and partners in Indonesia, including a commitment from Serbian companies to recruit Indonesian workers in the tourism sector, especially in hotels and restaurants. “The positive response from the Serbian public throughout the exhibition proves that tourist destinations in Indonesia, even though geographically far from Serbia, remain a special attraction for visitors,” said Ambassador Andreano. It was stated that the Indonesian pavilion, which occupied the main area of the exhibition hall, was one of the main attractions at the exhibition. In addition to presenting popular culinary products such as coffee and snacks, the Indonesian pavilion also featured a variety of traditional dances by the Bidadari Dance Group under the auspices of the Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade. The 47th ITF was officially opened by the Prime Minister of Serbia, Đuro Macut, and involved more than 350 exhibitors from 18 countries, including Indonesia. The event is part of a major series of activities by the Serbian government leading up to the implementation of Expo 2027 in Belgrade, which is projected to provide a massive boost to tourism and the hospitality industry. Citing data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the number of Serbian tourists visiting Indonesia increased from 3,727 in 2023 to around 5,000 in 2025, according to the Indonesian Embassy in Belgrade.
