Indonesian Corruption Watchdog Receives 5,080 Public Complaints of Alleged Graft
Jakarta — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has disclosed that it received 5,080 public complaints regarding alleged corruption offences by 11 March 2026, originating from various regions across Indonesia.
“The KPK has received 5,080 public complaints from different areas throughout Indonesia,” said Asep Guntur Rahayu, the KPK’s Deputy for Prosecution and Enforcement, in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.
Asep noted that the thousands of complaints demonstrate strong public participation and confidence in the KPK’s work.
“The KPK ensures that every report submitted will not simply become a filing or stack of documents, but will be processed and pursued professionally,” he said.
However, he urged complainants to furnish additional documentation to support their reports.
Asep stressed that public complaints constitute an essential element for the KPK’s anti-corruption efforts, including through sting operations. “The successful arrests of corruption perpetrators cannot be separated from reports submitted by the public, or assistance from community members reporting corruption in their respective regions,” he explained.
The most recent sting operation conducted by the KPK targeted a regional leader in Bengkulu Province, specifically Rejang Lebong Regent Muhammad Fikri Thobari.
