Indonesian Attorney General’s Office Asset Recovery Agency (Badan Pemulihan Aset - BPA Kejaksaan Agung) successfully auctioned 300 of 308 seized items in the BPA Fair held from 18 to 21 May. ‘The total assets we auctioned in this activity were 308 units. A total of 300 assets were sold. That means eight units were not sold,’ said BPA head Kuntadi to reporters on Thursday (21 May). Kuntadi said among the seized assets auctioned, Harley Davidson motorcycles drew the most interest, with bidder numbers reaching 903 per cent. He added that the Harley Davidson Road Glide had the highest price increase at 930.86 per cent, while the Road Glide also attracted the most bidders, with 349 bidders. In addition to Harley Davidson, other seized items that sold included a Pharaoh chair replica that went for Rp80 million. Luxury bags and gold, largely seized from convict Harvey Moeis, were also among the assets sold. Kuntadi noted that from hundreds of luxury items auctioned, the total recoverable assets amounted to almost Rp1 trillion, or Rp997,479,436,000. ‘The value of the price increases from the auction can be Rp74,758,949,000. Therefore the total auction proceeds are Rp997,479,436,000. The auction’s success rate this time is 88.64 per cent, which is above our target of 75 per cent,’ said Kuntadi. He further stated that the auction also addresses public doubts about goods seized from criminals and serves to introduce the Asset Recovery Agency as a Kejaksaan entity in managing, returning proceeds of crime or other assets to the state or victims.
