Jakarta — The Army Public Information Service (Dispenad) announced that a soldier identified as Peltu A is confirmed to be involved in an assault against an online taxi driver on Jalan Raya Puspiptek, Setu District, South Tangerang City (Tangsel), Banten. The Indonesian Army (TNI AD) guarantees that Peltu A will be acted upon firmly in accordance with military law.

“We ensure that the legal process proceeds according to applicable provisions, including a deepening of the chronology, witness interviews, and collection of evidence,” said the Head of the Army Public Information Service (Kadispenad) Brigadier General Donny Pramono in Jakarta, on Wednesday (4/3/2026).

According to him, based on coordination results with the Tangsel Police, Peltu A has now been processed at Madenpom Jaya/1 Tangerang. This followed the incident of assault that occurred on Monday (2/3/2026) night WIB. “At present, the involved service member has been secured and is being questioned by Denpom Jaya/1 Tangerang,” Donny said.

He added that the ongoing investigation is still proceeding. He guaranteed that the process is being conducted comprehensively to reveal the full events. However, based on preliminary investigations, it was found that the incident stemmed from a dispute over a vehicle swerve.

Thus the soldier is alleged to have pointed a weapon resembling a pistol, which turned out to be a wooden toy pistol. In this regard, the Indonesian Army (TNI AD) states it will ensure swift handling of the incident.

He guaranteed that the TNI AD will not tolerate any form of legal violation or actions that could erode public trust. “The TNI AD is committed to maintaining public trust and the professionalism of soldiers through a mechanism of law enforcement that is transparent and accountable,” he said.
