Indonesian Ambassador to UAE visits a number of Indonesian nationals still stranded in Abu Dhabi
Abu Dhabi — Amid the uncertainty caused by the temporary closure of airspace in the Middle East, the Republic of Indonesia’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Judha Nugraha, personally visited a number of Indonesian citizens who remained stranded in Abu Dhabi.
On Tuesday evening, Ambassador Judha travelled to the Al Reef residential area in Abu Dhabi to meet four Indonesian nationals stranded there and currently being accommodated by another Indonesian resident in Abu Dhabi, Yuni Budi Pramudyo. The meeting was warm and marked by solidarity, underscoring the strong bonds within the Indonesian diaspora in the UAE during a period of emergency.
‘There are a total of 41 Indonesians stranded due to the airspace closure in the UAE. We are coordinating closely with local authorities and with the community. For example, we visited our stranded compatriots who are being cared for by fellow Indonesians. This is the beauty of the fraternal solidarity among Indonesians abroad, helping one another to deliver the best services and protection for Indonesians,’ he said.
At the meeting, Ambassador Judha confirmed that the Indonesians were safe and that their basic needs were being met.
‘What matters most at present is to ensure all Indonesians are safe and protected. We are here to ensure that no one is left behind,’ the ambassador said at the meeting.
To date, 41 Indonesians have reported to the Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Indonesian Consulate General in Dubai because they remain stranded in Abu Dhabi and Dubai due to cancellations or delays to flights.
They have been catalogued and grouped according to their needs, including those with urgent repatriation for work, family, or health reasons.
