Indonesian Ambassador to Switzerland Highlights Tolerance as Eid Approaches Nyepi and Easter
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ambassador to Switzerland, Ngurah Swajaya, has highlighted religious harmony and tolerance, while appreciating the spirit of unity and togetherness in this year’s Eid al-Fitr celebrations, which are close to other religious observances such as Nyepi and Easter.
According to a written statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Bern received in Jakarta on Saturday, Ambassador Ngurah stated that this year’s Eid al-Fitr celebration once again serves as a momentum to strengthen feelings of harmony and family bonds.
“A moment that also coincides with Nyepi Day and the upcoming Easter, reminding us that in diversity, there is strength to respect one another and strengthen unity,” he said.
Ambassador Ngurah also invited all communities to continue maintaining harmony and family ties in Indonesian society.
The Indonesian Embassy in Bern also mentioned that the khatib and imam for Eid al-Fitr prayers at the embassy, Desrial Anwar, urged the community to forgive one another, avoid belittling others, and cleanse the heart of all forms of arrogance.
According to the Indonesian Embassy in Bern, hundreds of Indonesian citizens from various cities in Switzerland and Liechtenstein participated in the Eid al-Fitr prayers and halal bihalal organised by the embassy on Friday (20/3).
While engaging in silaturahmi, the community and Indonesian diaspora enjoyed various typical Lebaran dishes such as ketupat, chicken opor, rendang, sambal goreng ati, and various traditional cakes that brought the atmosphere of the homeland.
“The spirit of togetherness was strongly felt in every Lebaran moment this time; the dishes served and the event venue setup were also prepared by our brothers and sisters from various religious and belief backgrounds,” said the Head of Information, Social, and Cultural Function at the Indonesian Embassy in Bern, Dahlia Kusuma Dewi.
