JAKARTA — The Indonesian Air Force is preparing for the Angkasa Yudha 2026 exercise, incorporating modern warfare threat scenarios including drone attacks, precision missiles, and cyber warfare. The exercise plan was presented by Kodiklatau Commander Air Vice-Marshal TNI T.B.H. Age Wiraksono to Air Force Chief of Staff (Kasau) Marshal TNI M Tonny Harjono at the Air Force Headquarters in East Jakarta on Tuesday, 26 May 2026, during a briefing on the General Guidelines Plan (RGB) for the Angkasa Yudha 2026 exercise. Tonny requested that the exercise no longer focuses solely on conventional air combat but also adapts to evolving threat patterns in modern conflicts. He stated that drone usage and cyber attacks are now integral to warfare patterns that must be anticipated in military training. The Angkasa Yudha 2026 exercise is also planned to be combined with the TNI Joint Exercise (Latgab) to test inter-service coordination in military operations. Tonny requested that exercise scenarios closely mimic real operational conditions, including potential digital system disruptions and attacks on defence infrastructure. In addition to unmanned aerial threats, cyber defence capabilities are being strengthened to assess personnel readiness against increasingly integrated digital threats in modern warfare. He also emphasised that flight and personnel safety remain a priority during the exercise. Angkasa Yudha is the Indonesian Air Force’s flagship exercise designed to test air operations readiness, including command capabilities, operational control, and air unit interoperability.
