Indonesian Air Force confirms ongoing training for Rafale fighter pilot candidates
The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) has ensured that the training process for Rafale fighter jet pilot candidates is currently ongoing. “Human resource preparation training is underway and will continue until all aircraft have arrived,” stated the Commander of Squadron 12, Lieutenant Colonel Pnb Binggi “Rayden” Nobel, during an interview at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, East Jakarta, on Monday.
According to Binggi, the force has already secured eight Rafale fighter pilots this year. These eight pilots were selected following rigorous training and selection processes conducted by the TNI AU. Prior to undergoing specific training, the Air Force selected candidates based on their extensive experience and high flight hours as combat pilots. Once all prerequisites were met, the selected pilots were permitted to undergo training as Rafelle pilot candidates.
He continued, noting that during the training, the candidates study a wide range of materials, from technical theory to practical application. Some candidates have even undergone training in France, the country where the Rafale was manufactured. Binggi added that Squadron 12 is currently scheduled to receive four additional Rafale pilots.
“At present, we have eight pilots, four of whom are currently undergoing the conversion programme,” explained Binggi. He expressed hope that all personnel, weaponry, and Rafale infrastructure would be able to support TNI AU operations to their maximum potential. “The readiness of pilots, technicians, and other supporting elements is crucial for the manning and operation of the Rafale MRCA Squadron,” he concluded.
