Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia is deeply concerned about the missile and drone attack on the oil refinery facility in Fujairah, United Arab Emirates (UAE), and urges all conflicting parties in the Middle East to exercise restraint and continue efforts to reduce tensions in the region.

“Indonesia urges all parties to exercise restraint, respect full ceasefire agreements, and uphold international law, including the protection of civilian infrastructure,” stated the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) via social media platform X on Wednesday.

The attack on the oil refinery is seen as risking an escalation of tensions, violating ceasefire agreements, and disrupting the security of supply chains and global energy security.

Indonesia reminds that a worsening situation could lead to the conflict’s impacts spreading to countries outside the region, according to the Kemlu statement.

Indonesia also reaffirms its readiness to support various efforts to reduce tensions in the Middle East region and dialogue to achieve peace and sustainable stability in the Middle East.

Amid the escalating conflict, Indonesian citizens (WNI) still in the UAE are urged to remain vigilant and comply with instructions from local authorities.

“All Indonesian citizens are advised to stay calm, increase vigilance, and always follow instructions from the local government and the Indonesian representation in the UAE,” stated Kemlu RI.

The Fujairah Media Office reported on Monday (4/5) a large fire in the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone, a major energy hub on the UAE’s east coast, after it was targeted by drones allegedly launched from Iran.

Authorities in Fujairah said three Indian nationals injured in the incident have been taken to hospital for treatment.

However, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) denied carrying out any missile or drone attacks on the UAE in recent days, according to a report by the state media IRIB on Tuesday (5/5).

IRIB, citing a statement from the IRGC Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters spokesperson, said that Tehran had not conducted any such operations.

The IRGC also rejected accusations from the UAE Ministry of Defence as “baseless”.
