Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has confirmed that Indonesia will receive supplies of crude oil and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from Russia. This agreement forms part of the outcomes from President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Moscow, Russia.

One day after President Prabowo’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday, 13 April 2026, at the Kremlin Palace, Bahlil Lahadalia held a face-to-face meeting with Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev. The meeting was also attended by representatives from several Russian energy companies, including Rosneft, Ruschem, Zarubezhneft, and Lukoil.

“Alhamdulillah, what has been agreed upon has yielded quite good results, where we can increase our crude reserves. In addition, we will also be able to obtain LPG,” Bahlil said after the meeting on Tuesday, 14 April 2026, quoted from a written statement.

Bahlil stated that this cooperation is being explored through government-to-government (G2G) or business-to-business (B2B) schemes. This partnership is expected to provide certainty regarding the availability of national energy reserves, particularly for crude oil and LPG in Indonesia.

In addition, Bahlil expressed that Indonesia is open to expanding the scope of cooperation with Russia, including in the development of crude storage, long-term supplies of crude oil and LPG, nuclear exploration, and cooperation in the mineral sector.

“We want all of this to truly provide certainty for national energy resilience,” said the Chairman of the Golkar Party.

Bahlil claimed that the meeting’s outcomes send a positive signal for strengthening national energy resilience amid the volatility of the global energy market, influenced by geopolitical factors and production fluctuations.

He assessed that the partnership with Russia is one of the important options. This is because the Land of the Red Bear has a large energy production capacity and experience in the oil and gas industry. Therefore, Russia is considered a reliable potential partner for long-term cooperation.

In this bilateral meeting, Russia expressed its readiness to assist Indonesia in strengthening energy resilience. “As a strategic partner, we are ready to collaborate, especially in the provision of oil and gas, storage, or electricity in this case nuclear power plants,” said Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev.
