TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Indonesia will host the Southeast Asia finance ministers and investors meeting. The forum, entitled ASEAN Finance Ministers Investor Seminar, will be held in Jakarta on Nov. 8.
Bambang Brojonegoro, the Finance Ministry’s head of fiscal policy division, said the meeting would be a place to promote investment activities and a forum to engage in dialogue between ASEAN economic decision-makers.
Global economic turmoil will be one of the topics for discussion, especially sustaining strong growth in the region. Bambang said that ASEAN had proven itself to be one of the regions still growing positively amid the global economic downturn.
Another issue to be discussed is the commitment to accelerating the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015. Trade volume and investments in the ASEAN region are expected to increase through a well-oiled and integrated financial system, policy liberalization of capital flows, and interconnected capital market development.
In addition to ASEAN finance ministers, World Bank Managing Director Sri Mulyani Indrawati is also expected to attend the forum as one of the keynote speakers.
