Jakarta – The Investment Management Board for Future Energy of Nusantara (BPI Danantara) has confirmed that the announcement of winning tender bidders for the initial phase Waste-to-Energy (WTE) project in two cities, namely Denpasar in Bali and Bekasi, will be made shortly.

This announcement forms part of the broader development of WTE projects across four cities in the initial phase: Bekasi, Denpasar, Yogyakarta, and Bogor.

Fadli Rahman, Director of Investments at Danantara Investment Management (DIM), stated that the organisation is accelerating the completion of administrative procedures and document finalisation so that the announcement of selected partners can be made soon.

“Our intention is to clearly communicate to prospective partners that yes, you have been selected as a partner for Denpasar and Bekasi. We are really pushing to achieve this in the near term,” Fadli said at Wisma Danantara on Friday (27 February 2026).

He explained that the tender process for Bali, Bekasi, Bogor, and Yogyakarta is currently ongoing. The formal signing of partnership agreements with the winning bidders is scheduled to take place in the second week of March 2026 by BPI Danantara Chief Executive Officer Rosan Roeslani.

“The announcement will be made and the signing is planned to be conducted by Mr Rosan (Danantara CEO) in March 2026,” he said.

As noted, the Waste-to-Energy programme has now entered the tender phase. A total of 24 experienced international companies are registered as participants in the process.

All participants who pass the selection are required to form a consortium as part of the tender requirements. Of the total 24 participants, 20 companies are from China, three from Japan, and one from France.

“When we opened the tender previously, we indicated there was value for local partners. So they already partnered beforehand. When they submitted proposals, they said I am partnered with A. Some are private companies and some are state-owned enterprises. So it is up to them,” Fadli said.
