Indonesia still a colonized state?
Indonesia still a colonized state?
From Koran Tempo
While we, Indonesians, celebrate our Independence Day with great festivities, as every year, a question still niggles at us: Are we really a free nation?
True, Indonesia has set itself free from Dutch and Japanese colonial rule but it is still shackled by foreign ideas in such a way that it is hardly independent as a nation.
This country has huge foreign debts (it is said that each Indonesian would owe foreigners Rp 10 million each, on average, if it were divided by the whole population). Foreign companies freely exploit our natural resources. Foreign values have become dominant in our own culture. In short, Indonesia may be considered a colony, albeit mentally.
To return to the right track as an independent nation, Indonesians must resort to the rules that God has laid down. God is perfect and man can never compare with Him. If we truly trust God's rules, we will be really independent.
