While we, Indonesians, celebrate our Independence Day with
\ngreat festivities, as every year, a question still niggles at us:
\nAre we really a free nation?<\/p>\n
True, Indonesia has set itself free from Dutch and Japanese
\ncolonial rule but it is still shackled by foreign ideas in such a
\nway that it is hardly independent as a nation.<\/p>\n
This country has huge foreign debts (it is said that each
\nIndonesian would owe foreigners Rp 10 million each, on average,
\nif it were divided by the whole population). Foreign companies
\nfreely exploit our natural resources. Foreign values have become
\ndominant in our own culture. In short, Indonesia may be
\nconsidered a colony, albeit mentally.<\/p>\n
To return to the right track as an independent nation,
\nIndonesians must resort to the rules that God has laid down. God
\nis perfect and man can never compare with Him. If we truly trust
\nGod's rules, we will be really independent.<\/p>\n
