Indonesia Reports 800,000 Livestock Surplus for Eid al-Adha 1447 AH
Deputy Agriculture Minister Sudaryono stated that Indonesia has a livestock surplus during the 1447 Hijriyah Eid al-Adha celebrations, with 3.2 million sacrificial animals available, exceeding national demand.
Meeting during a sacrificial ritual organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Indonesian Farmers’ Harmony Association (HKTI) at the Nurul Iman Mosque in the Ministry of Agriculture complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday (27 May 2026), Sudaryono said national consumption demand stood at 2.4 million head.
With a supply of 3.2 million head and a demand of approximately 2.4 million, Indonesia recorded an 800,000-head surplus of sacrificial animals for this year’s Eid al-Adha.
“There is a surplus of around 800,000 head. This means Alhamdulillah, Allah has bestowed His blessings and provisions upon our nation today,” Sudaryono said.
He described the surplus as a divine blessing and a reason for gratitude, reflecting the nation’s healthy livestock availability.
He considered the achievement a sign of Indonesia’s positive overall condition, including in terms of economic growth and food security.
Sudaryono emphasised that negative perceptions of the country’s situation do not align with reality, as various indicators show positive progress.
The 800,000-head livestock surplus also demonstrates the nation’s ability to meet sacrificial animal demands without supply shortages.
Amid global conflicts and uncertainties, Indonesia remains capable of maintaining domestic stability and control.
“Amid widespread conflicts and difficult conditions, we are in a good state, which we must all be grateful for,” Sudaryono added.
