Indonesia ready to build technology-based critical minerals framework: Deputy Minister
Jakarta – Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria stated that Indonesia is now prepared to build a technology-based critical minerals framework.
“This is why this conference is so important. We do not merely want to sell materials to you, but to build a technology-based critical minerals framework,” Patria said in an official statement confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday.
At the India-Indonesia Critical Mineral Conference held in Jakarta on Tuesday (24 February), Patria assessed that Indonesia now occupies a strategic position, shifting from being merely a raw materials exporter to becoming a key partner in global technology supply chains.
During the occasion, he expressed his admiration for India’s technological developments, which he witnessed directly at the AI Impact Summit in India the previous week.
This statement outlined Indonesia’s new policy direction in building strategic partnerships with India, which has successfully accelerated its technology ecosystem through the Make in India initiative.
“India is not merely participating in the future—it is building it,” he said.
As a follow-up, the Indonesian government has proposed three main collaborative agendas with India. First, jointly developing Indonesia through investment in mineral processing facilities to produce high-quality electronic materials.
Second, investment in human resources through knowledge transfer and development of semiconductor engineer talent, and third, building supply chain resilience corridors by connecting Indonesian resources with Indian manufacturing to create a robust and efficient supply chain.
