Jakarta — The Indonesian government has entered into a strategic collaboration with Britain to open pathways for local startups to expand and compete in global markets.

Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria emphasised that Indonesia is currently a major force with the largest digital economy in Southeast Asia. However, Indonesian startups face obstacles when seeking to expand their markets, including regulatory differences, cultural challenges, and a lack of established networks in international markets.

“For many of our startups, the journey across borders is hindered by a ‘glass ceiling’. We welcome the establishment of the UK Landing Pad, which is specifically designed to break through these barriers,” said Deputy Minister Nezar Patria in an official statement confirmed in Jakarta on Thursday.

The partnership between Indonesia and Britain is built on a shared vision that digital innovation should drive sustainable growth. Through this programme, digital talent and industry players are encouraged to create innovative solutions recognised globally.

“Britain and Indonesia are forging a partnership based on a shared vision that digital innovation must serve society, whilst driving sustainable and inclusive growth,” Nezar Patria explained.

Deputy Minister Nezar urged local startup founders to maintain resilience and adaptability, as global-scale expansion requires a long struggle.

“You are not just building a company; you are ambassadors of Indonesia’s talent and intelligence. Let us begin this journey towards a future where Indonesian innovation is known and respected in every corner of the world,” said Deputy Minister Nezar Patria.
