Indonesia Opens Opportunities for Collaboration and Mobility of Research Talent with Qatar
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) is opening opportunities for collaboration in strengthening joint research, academic mobility, and the development of superior human resources with Qatar.
This was discussed during the courtesy visit by the Ambassador of Qatar to Indonesia, Sultan bin Mubarak Al-Dosari, with the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) Brian Yuliarto in Jakarta on Thursday (9/4).
“We are conducting research in various fields and opening opportunities for joint research collaborations between universities in Indonesia and Qatar. Through joint research project schemes, researchers from both countries can collaborate directly. In addition, we are also encouraging increased student mobility, including opportunities for Indonesian students to pursue studies and conduct research at universities in Qatar,” said the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.
Furthermore, the Qatari Ambassador, Sultan bin Mubarak Al-Dosari, welcomed the initiative and affirmed Qatar’s commitment to strengthening relations in the field of higher education.
It is known that this meeting also discussed potential cooperation with various leading universities in Qatar that have partnered with world-class educational institutions.
In addition, both parties discussed the potential to increase the number of Indonesian students pursuing studies in Qatar through various schemes, including scholarships. This programme is expected to expand access for Indonesia’s superior talent to global-standard education and research.
In a broader context, the discussions between the two parties also covered potential collaborations in applied sciences and research-based technology development. This is part of efforts to promote innovation integrated with industry needs and sustainable development.
This meeting also emphasised the importance of activating previous collaborations between several universities and expanding new partnerships with other higher education institutions in Indonesia.
In line with the direction of the impactful Diktisaintek policy, this collaboration is expected not only to strengthen global networks but also to drive real contributions from higher education and research in addressing national and global development challenges.
This approach emphasises research downstreaming, strengthening superior human resources, and synergy between higher education, science, and industry needs.
