Indonesia national team could be without diaspora players from Europe for FIFA Series 2026
Indonesia’s national team could be without several diaspora players based in Europe for the FIFA Series 2026. The main obstacle relates to air travel to Indonesia. The geopolitical situation in Western Asia is affecting several international flight routes. The conflict between Iran, Israel, and the United States is causing some routes from Europe to Asia to experience disruptions. Arya Sinulingga, a member of the PSSI Exco, has voiced concerns about the condition. He says that flight problems could affect the travel of Indonesian national team players back to the homeland. Some Indonesian players in Europe include Justin Hubner, Maarten Paes, Jay Idzes, Calvin Verdonk, Kevin Diks, and Ragnar Oratmangoen. They must undertake long journeys from Europe before joining the national team. According to Arya, the current flight situation is quite dynamic and needs to be considered before determining travel routes. However, external conditions must still be taken into account so players can arrive on time. “This is the FIFA Series, but Eid al-Fitr is coming soon, travel will probably be disrupted as well.” “So hopefully preparations can proceed smoothly.” “But I am also a little worried about the flights of the players’ colleagues, especially those from Europe,” Arya said at Lapangan ABC, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Friday (6/3/2026). He added that the situation in Saudi Arabia means journeys from Europe to Asia are not always straightforward.
