Following the attack, the Foreign Affairs Ministry stated that the Indonesian government—through close and intensive coordination with UNIFIL, the Lebanese government, and the medical team in Beirut—has ensured that immediate and optimal medical treatment was provided.

“All possible measures were taken. However, due to the severity of his injuries, he passed away despite all efforts to save his life,” the Indonesian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday (April 24).

In addition to expressing its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, the government also conveys its highest respect for his dedication and sacrifice in maintaining international peace.

“The government continues its close coordination with UNIFIL to ensure that the repatriation of the deceased is carried out promptly and with full dignity,” the ministry noted.

Indonesia once again condemns the attack by Israel that resulted in the death of an Indonesian peacekeeper. Any attack against peacekeepers constitutes a serious violation of international law and may amount to a war crime.

Indonesia reiterates its call for the United Nations to conduct an immediate, thorough, and transparent investigation to establish the facts and stresses that full accountability must be ensured.

“The safety and security of the UN peacekeepers is not negotiable. Therefore, Indonesia also continues its coordination with the UN and other troop- and police-contributing countries (TPCCs) to strengthen the protection of peacekeepers, including through a comprehensive evaluation of their safety and security, as well as enhanced risk mitigation measures in UNIFIL’s area of operations,” the Foreign Ministry stated.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has earlier said an Indonesian peacekeeper died after suffering severe injuries in an attack in southern Lebanon in late March, marking the latest casualty amid escalating tensions.

In a statement on X that ANTARA quoted here Friday, UNIFIL said Private First Class Rico Pramudia, 31, died after nearly a month of treatment at a Beirut hospital for critical wounds sustained in the incident.

With the death of Private First Class Rico, Indonesia has lost four Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) soldiers while serving with UNIFIL in southern Lebanon in the past month.

The previous TNI soldier killed was Private First Class Farizal Rhomadhon, who died in an artillery attack on March 29, in the same incident that initially injured Private First Class Rico.

On March 30, two TNI personnel, Captain Inf Zulmi Aditya Iskandar and Sergeant First Class Muhammad Nur Ikhwan, were killed when the troop convoy they were escorting was attacked.

The series of attacks, which occurred on March 29–30 and April 3, also left seven TNI soldiers injured, in addition to the late Private First Class Rico.
