JAKARTA – The Indonesian government has confirmed its commitment to purchasing crude oil and natural gas products from the United States valued at 15 billion US dollars, equivalent to approximately 253 trillion rupiah, remains on track despite the US Supreme Court’s cancellation of the reciprocal tariffs previously signed by US President Donald Trump.

The 15 billion US dollar figure forms part of the bilateral trade agreement known as the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) between Indonesia and the United States.

“Within the agreement for energy imports from America under the ART, the value is stipulated as 15 billion US dollars,” said Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Yuliot Tanjung at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry in Jakarta on Friday (26 February 2026).

“Meanwhile, what the US Supreme Court reviewed pertains to the tariffs. So there is a distinction,” he continued.

According to Yuliot, the US Supreme Court’s decision cancelled only the reciprocal tariffs, not the trade agreement between the two nations.

Nevertheless, the Indonesian government has 90 days following the US Supreme Court’s decision to ratify the agreement. During this period, there remains an opportunity to conduct a comprehensive review.

“With the US Supreme Court’s decision, we now have a 90-day window to conduct a review,” Yuliot stated.

He added that it remains possible that there could be further discussions or changes in the implementation of the oil and gas purchases.

“If there is anything urgent, we will discuss it,” Yuliot said.

“There may be changes; within the 90-day timeframe we will conduct discussions regarding implementation,” he added.

The government indicated it will determine what percentage of energy imports will be shifted from the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Africa to the United States, with a detailed breakdown to be provided within three weeks.
