Indonesia-France Business Council Expected to Boost Investment
Investment and Downstreaming Minister and BKPM Chief Rosan Perkasa Roeslani is optimistic that the Indonesia-France Business Council will drive foreign investment into Indonesia. ‘The establishment of the France–Indonesia High Level Business Council is a significant milestone in strengthening the economic partnership between the two nations,’ Rosan said in a presidential secretariat press release issued from Jakarta on Friday (29 May 2026). The Indonesia-France High Level Business Council was announced during President Prabowo Subianto’s state visit to Paris, France, on Thursday (28 May 2026). President Prabowo and French President Emmanuel Macron witnessed the council’s establishment in Paris. Rosan explained that the forum serves not only as a platform for business dialogue but also as a mechanism to drive investment, trade, and strategic cooperation benefiting both nations. The council is chaired by MEDEF International’s France–Indonesia Business Council head and Danone CEO Antoine de Saint-Affrique, alongside Kadin Indonesia’s Chairman Anindya Bakrie. During the same event, Rosan revealed that the council’s launch resulted in four new commercial agreements worth $3.5 billion, spanning energy security, trade, and defence cooperation. ‘French business confidence in Indonesia continues to grow,’ Rosan stated. The Indonesia-France Business Council aims to triple total trade by 2035. Kadin Indonesia and MEDEF International have reaffirmed strong commitments to bolstering the bilateral economic corridor and opening new collaboration opportunities across strategic sectors. ‘We are optimistic that Indonesia-France economic relations will grow stronger,’ Rosan said.
