Indonesia Exports 2,280 Tonnes of Nusantara Rice for 2026 Hajj Pilgrims
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) has facilitated the first export of Nusantara rice amounting to 2,280 tonnes to Saudi Arabia. This move is intended to meet the consumption needs of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims in 2026 while reinforcing the Hajj logistics ecosystem based on national food products. The export, carried out by Perum Bulog, follows the decision of the Limited Coordination Meeting (Rakortas) of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs and the National Food Agency (Bapanas). The export volume is aligned with the total quota of 205,420 pilgrims and Hajj staff for this year. The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah regards this export as a strategic step in ensuring the availability of pilgrim consumption based on domestic products, while also serving as a platform to promote Indonesian rice in international markets. Jaenal Effendi, Director General for the Development of the Hajj and Umrah Economic Ecosystem (PE2HU) at Kemenhaj, emphasised that the first export of rice for the Hajj pilgrims represents an important breakthrough in meeting the consumption needs of pilgrims based on national products. “This marks a breakthrough after years of waiting for Indonesian rice to be used for Hajj consumption in Saudi Arabia,” he said when launching the rice export at the Bulog warehouse in Kelapa Gading, Jakarta, on Wednesday (4/3).
