VIVAnews - PT Energi Mega Persada pushed oil production by 1,942 barrels of oil per day from the Malacca Strait PSC Block in Riau, Sumatra.

According to Energi Mega President Director, Imam Agustino, the additional production is supplied by MD-03 offshore well, which is part of Mengkapan oil field. Previous drilling from the well only resulted in no more than 80 barrels per day.

"It is expected that the MD-03 well can have stable production at 600 barrels of oil per day in the years to come," he said today, July 5.

Imam said the Malacca Block has as well shared more oil by 400 barrels per day.

The Malacca Strait PSC Block is 60.49 percent owned by Energi Mega through its subsidiaries. CNOOC Group (OOGC Malaca Ltd, Malacca Petroleum Ltd) controls 39.51 percent of the remaining ownership.

The Malacca Strait PSC Block along 2010 produced an average of 6,903 barrels of oil per day and 11 million cubic feet of gas per day.
