Indonesia dumped in U-19 qualifier

JAKARTA (JP): A one-year Italian training stint proved far from fruitful for Indonesian junior booters as they were bundled out of the Asia Cup U-19 soccer championship qualifier in a 0-3 thrashing from China in Gaoding on Sunday.

The Indonesians, who fought to the end, were outgunned and outclassed by the marauding Chinese. The Chinese team found it easy going and created goal scoring plays with their varied up- front assaults.

It took only 15 minutes midway through the first half for the Chinese to score its three goals. Guo Mui opened the scoring in the 15th minute, before Wang Peng netted twice.

Unbeaten China qualified for the finals in South Korea this September, scoring a massive 17 goals in three matches. (amd)
